Tips and Tricks
As with many application techniques, the more experienced you become at treating surfaces with SiO2 products, the quicker the process is achieved. There are numerous ways to expedite the application process and attain the benefits of our technology. Cleaning of the surface is the most vital step. You must get the technology to the substrate. If there is anything between the SiO2 coating and the surface to be treated e.g. sealer, wax, soil, the adhesion will be effected and so will the products characteristics.
Use a pump sprayer or HVLP.
When treating large surface areas, use a pump sprayer or HVLP. Using a paint roller afterwards will ensure that the technology has been “pushed” into the substrate. Moisten the roller cover sparingly with the selected product before use. For stone and high textured surfaces choose a nap of ¾’ – 1”, for smoother surfaces a nap of ¼” is best.
Colour co-ordinate microfibers.
Colour co-ordinate microfibers when wiping our products on the surface. E.g., use blue for the technology, yellow for Pre-Clean, and green for cleaning products. Using these simple steps will assist against cross contamination.
Spray products directly to the cloth.
In most cases, spray products directly to the cloth, not the surface. This will keep the area clean, stain free, and control of product quantity easier. Always read the supplied Tech sheet for proper instructions.
Use of lamb wool pads.
For treating floors with SIO2 products, the use of lamb wool pads may be used.
NEVER pour left over product back to original container.
Always use an application container and pour enough of the product needed for the project. Do not touch application cloth to the opening of the container, use the sprayer to apply the products directly to the cloth and NEVER pour left over product back to original container, you may contaminate the contents.
Dedicated spray pumps.
When utilizing large quantities of SiO2 products to apply to large surface areas, fill and dedicate a pump sprayer to each product needed.
